So, alongside a few of my classmates and fellow students from SAE Glasgow, I went on a trip to Oxford to the world headquarters of SAE. Here is a photo of what may now be my favourite studio! We spent 2 days in workshops, playing with excessive amounts of microphone techniques in their purpose built Steinway piano live room and on electric and acoustic guitars. Alongside, a tutorial on the Neve Genesys console, we also had some time to learn a TL Audio desk and the SSL AWS900 console. Fun times! Sounds from my train journey home today from Oxford
In my procrastination from writing an essay I found this.
A track (called Vision) I recorded and mixed recently for Majestic Dandelion
i get excited about journeys and this photo reminds me of a recent excursion i took with a couple of good friends to climb Ben Nevis.
when i’m going to see a friend who i haven’t seen for ages, or when i’m on a journey to place i’ve never seen, or even when i’m on the way home and i haven’t been home for a long time, i genuinely get excited.
perhaps its the expectancy of the destination and the people i get to see when i get there. perhaps its the flying over landscapes and admiring gods vast and mind bogglingly awesome creation. every time i fly, i get surprised by how excited i get when i see sunrises over the mountains, or when i fly over the green hills of scotland, the sand dunes of the sahara or perhaps the snowy peaked alpine mountains. i love it! perhaps also, its the time when we unplug a lot of daily routine, our phones, the tv, our addiction to social networks and facebook. often we don’t need to be speaking to anyone or organising anything, or studying or working. its a time to rest and reflect and enjoy the journey and the now!
